Skeeter waking up. Skeeter came in a few years ago and became another permanent resident. Back legs were totally paralized when she came in but over the years they have become somewhat useful. Skeeter can lift his weight and walk on them, but it seems as though she forgets that she can do that and continually drags herself around by her front legs, quite well in fact. I do love when I see her walk on all fours though like she should, it's encouraging to say the least. This is the cave she has created along with Phil the Ornate who can barely be seen behind her.

Bean was adopted by someone from another rescue, however he had parasites and a chronic runny nose. The person that adopted him couldn't afford to keep bringing him to the vet so Bean is here for the winter. He's got a great appetite for hay and I know I can clear up that runny nose for good with some good habitat & diet. He'll be available for adoption as soon as the temps warm up in 2007.

EBT side view
Date: 01/12/2007
Two boxies came in together. Both had been kept by an older gentleman for about 15-20 years since they were hatchlings. Although the shells don't look so bad the tails are abnormally short and shell doesn't appear to match up. They have not been seen closed up, not sure if either can. Both have the same deformed jaw. Although the beak doesn't appear to be overgrown, it juts out past the bottom jaw. No trouble eating greens, fruit and turtle brittle, but when given a butterworm it had great difficulty keeping it in it's mouth once it was able to scoop it up. Dietary deficiency is the only explanation since both have this.

A few weeks later a couple hatched, then the eggs started to smell really bad and shrivel up. I opened the rest of the eggs and took them out. All 19 alive and well despite the smelly green ooze in the eggs.
